Methanol & Solvent

Methanol & Solvent products

Methanol is used in a variety of industrial and commercial applications, including the following:

1. Solvent: Methanol is used as a solvent in the production of paints, inks, resins, and adhesives, as well as in the extraction of essential oils and flavors from plants.

2.Fuel: Methanol can be used as a fuel in internal combustion engines and fuel cells, and is often used in racing cars and boats due to its high octane rating and clean burning properties. It can also be blended with gasoline to create a fuel with improved combustion and reduced emissions.

3.Chemical intermediate: Methanol is used as a chemical intermediate in the production of a wide range of chemicals, including formaldehyde, acetic acid, and various plastics and resins.

Downstream products of methanol include:

1.Formaldehyde: Formaldehyde is produced by the oxidation of methanol and is used in the production of resins, plastics, and other chemicals.

2.Acetic acid: Acetic acid is produced by the carbonylation of methanol and is used in the production of a variety of chemicals, including vinegar, plastics, and resins.

3.Plastics and resins: Methanol is used as a feedstock in producing a wide range of plastics and resins, including polycarbonate, polyurethane, and melamine resins.
