Is there an established method to validate NeoAXT ?

Yes, LCY has worked with Eurofins to establish a validated testing method for the product. LCY can provide the Eurofins method reference code so that customers can order the correct testing method from Eurofins.

For customers that wish to do their own testing in-house, LCY can share the method under NDA.

Customers should be made aware that LCY’s product is free-form astaxanthin which differs slightly from esterified astaxanthin produced by microalgae. Testing methods used for esterified astaxanthin are not accurate when for use on free form astaxanthin.

Does LCY have clinical data?

LCY has generated comprehensive analytical data confirming the purity, stability, and performance of its astaxanthin, a molecule with a well-established track record of health benefits in both human and companion pet nutrition markets. Numerous third-party peer-reviewed published literature provides a strong foundation for health-related claims of astaxanthin.

In addition, LCY is actively engaged in collaborative clinical research focused on micro and nano-encapsulated astaxanthin, with results expected in 2026. These studies aim to validate enhanced bioavailability and efficacy across multiple applications.

What is the shelf life of NeoAXT?

Based on product composition, packaging, and stability data from comparable formulations, NeoAXT 55% crystalline powder and NeoAXT 10% CWD is assigned a provisional retest date of three (3) years from the date of manufacture; Softgels for 2 years from the date of manufacture. Prior to this date, the material should be re-evaluated to confirm continued compliance with specifications if it has not been used.

Formal long-term stability studies are ongoing to establish the validated shelf-life. The provisional retest period will be updated once study results are available.

Does NeoAXT contain allergens?

No. NeoAXT is allergen-free and produced under GMP standards.

Is LCY’s product organic and non-GMO?

NeoAXT is not non-GMO certified, however, the trade-off is that LCY’s fermentation process offers a nonsynthetic astaxanthin with an exceptionally clean chemistry profile. While the product does not carry the non-GMO certification, it does offer near-pharma-grade purity.

Is NeoAXT suitable for vegan or vegetarian consumers?

Yes. NeoAXT is produced through a fermentation process utilizing non-animal feedstocks, making it fully compatible with vegan and vegetarian formulations

Can NeoAXT be used in beverages?

Yes. NeoAXT is Self-Affirmed GRAS making it usable in beverage applications. The 55% concentrate is not water dispersible so customers would need to prepare a CWD formulation in-house.

NeoAXT 10% microencapsulated CWD is specifically formulated for cold-water dispersion, making it highly suitable for beverage applications, including ready-to-mix (RTM) formats. The powder demonstrates excellent thermal stability, retaining up to 94% of its antioxidant activity after heat treatment, which is critical for maintaining efficacy in processed liquid products.

For functional beverages, NeoAXT supports a Self-Affirmed GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) intake level of 0.15 mg/serving, enabling its use in a variety of delivery formats such as bottled supplements, and functional drinks or foods.

Does LCY have stability data for it’s ready-to-drink and ready-to-mix formats?

LCY does not have stability data on these products at this time. LCY will begin real-time stability testing soon and will provide updates as data becomes available.

Can NeoAXT be used in companion pet supplements?

Yes. Its purity and the absence of odor and taste make it suitable for pet applications including toppers and lickables. In addition, under conditions of 120°C for 20 minutes, 94% of the astaxanthin in LCY's microencapsulated CWD powders remained intact. The demonstrated heat stability of these CWD formulations make them suitable for use in dosage forms like soft chews which require prolonged periods of elevated temperatures during production.

Can it be used in companion pet food?

LCY recommends holding off at this time. LCY is currently undergoing Self-Affirmed GRAS certification for companion animals. In the meantime, there are more effective delivery formats for incorporating LCY’s astaxanthin into pet food—such as toppers—which may offer better bioavailability and ease of use.

The company is currently pursuing INCI name registration and generating clinical performance data to support its use in topical applications, further reinforcing its versatility across personal care and nutritional categories.

Are there any added challenges when formulating with NeoAXT free-form astaxanthin versus traditional esterified astaxanthin?

No, there are no significant challenges posed by free-form astaxanthin for formulators. Much of the formulation challenges around esterified astaxanthin from microalgae arise due to the high level of lipids present in the product.

NeoAXT has very low levels of lipid which makes it orderless, tasteless, and easy to formulate.

Are there differences in chemistry between NeoAXT compared to astaxanthin from microalgae?

LCY's fermentation process and microalgae both produce the same 3S,3S' form. The 3S,3S' form is reported to be the most bioavailable and bioactive isomer.

At a chemistry level, the major difference between astaxanthin produced by LCY compared to microalgae is that NeoAXT is free-form while astaxanthin from microalgae is mostly esterified. The esterified form consists of the astaxanthin molecule with additional fatty acid esters attached at one or both ends. Free-from astaxanthin has no fatty acids attached.

The fatty acids are enzymatically removed from esterified astaxanthin in the gut during absorption, as a result, only free-form astaxanthin appears in the blood.
