K 2025: LCY Showcases Innovative Polymer Solutions for a Sustainable Future
2025-10-09
From PCR polypropylene to SEBS elastomers and sustainable compounds, LCY presents a comprehensive portfolio for a future-ready industry in Duesseldorf.
Taipei/Duesseldorf, 06.10 2025 – LCY Chemical Corp., an internationally leading materials science company headquartered in Taiwan, will showcase its latest polymer innovations at K 2025 in Düsseldorf (October 8 – 15, 2025) – while celebrating the 110th anniversary of LCY Group, a milestone that reflects decades of expertise, innovation, and commitment to sustainability. Under the guiding principle “Innovative Polymer Solutions for a Sustainable Industry”, LCY will present a comprehensive portfolio of materials at Hall 7, Level 2 / booth C16, combining performance, sustainability, and efficiency.
Founded in 1915, the LCY Group was shifted into LCY Chemical Corp. in 1965, which now operates twelve production sites worldwide in Taiwan, China, the USA, and Canada, making it one of the fastest-growing companies in the industry. In the German market, LCY is particularly active with TPE applications (e.g., SBS, SEBS, TPV) in the automotive and construction sectors, as well as with sustainable polypropylene (PP) solutions for packaging. The company’s adhesive raw materials segment (SEBS and SIS) is also gaining significance. LCY is organized into three business divisions – Performance Polymers & Materials, Semiconductor & Interconnect, and Sustainable Technology – with a consistent goal of reimagining science.
LCY Highlights at K 2025
1. PCR – Post-Consumer Recycled Polypropylene
LCY’s PCR polypropylene delivers high-performance solutions with customizable recycled content to meet diverse functional requirements. Despite the recycled content, these materials offer excellent processing stability, mechanical strength, and surface quality – ideal for consumer goods, packaging, and structural components.
2. TPV – Thermoplastic Vulcanizates
LCY’s TPV combines rubber-like properties with thermoplastic processability, making it suitable for seals, air ducts, and asphalt modification. With TPV concentrates (Globalene 1055RC and 4055RC), TPE can create custom compound formulations.
3. SEBS/SBS – Elastomer Solutions for Compounding
LCY‘s SEBS and SBS elastomers provide outstanding elasticity, heat resistance, transparency, and processability. They are widely used in compounding for automotive, construction, and consumer products, enabling manufacturers to enhance performance while ensuring sustainability.
4. SIS for Adhesives
LCY’s SIS combines elasticity, heat resistance, skin compatibility, and transparency, making it a preferred choice for hot-melt adhesives. Grade such as Globalprene 5562 and 5561 are engineered for versatility and excellent performance.
5. Medical Applications from High-Quality Polypropylene & Thermoplastic Elastomers
Polypropylene and thermoplastic elastomers for healthcare applications feature chemical resistance, sterilizability, and biocompatibility. These solutions are ideal for medical disposable products, packaging, and baby care applications, offering a cost-effective alternative to more expensive resins.
6. PCMA – Polypropylene Compounds and Alloys
LCY’s reinforced polypropylene compounds with glass fibers, flame retardants, or mineral fillers deliver robust solutions for automotive, construction, and electronics. New: Globalene PT263, a sustainable replacement for melamine tableware, offering high durability, chemical resistance, and food contact safety.
“K 2025 is the ideal platform for us to demonstrate how innovative polymer solutions combine sustainability and competitiveness,” says TH Hong, Chairman of LCY Chemical Corp. “With our mission to create sustainable growth for customers, industry, and society through such solutions, we are reimagining science and consistently integrating circular economy principles into our strategies. In doing so, we make a measurable contribution to the decarbonization and transformation of the plastics industry – and, together with our partners in Europe, actively drive this change forward.”
Sustainability as Corporate Strategy
LCY pursues ambitious climate goals: by 2030, greenhouse gas emissions are to be reduced by 42% compared to 2021, and RE15 is to be achieved. With its proprietary “LCY Sustainable 6R” framework, sustainability and circular economy principles are fully integrated into product development.
- 75% of the sales volume of thermoplastic materials has undergone life cycle assessment (LCA) and obtained ISO 14067 certification.
- Numerous products are ISCC PLUS certified, including thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) and polypropylene (PP).
- All production sites operate according to ISO 50001 energy management standards.
- PCR solutions with measurable CO₂ impact:
- PPCR-PP (Polypropylene): up to 30% CO₂ reduction with 50% PCR content.
- PCR-TPV (Thermoplastic Vulcanizates): up to 35% CO₂ reduction with 22% PCR-PP, ideal for automotive and sealing applications.
These initiatives help LCY partners meet ESG requirements, reduce reliance on virgin plastics, and promote the circular economy.
